The racing was fast and close, and when the dust settled, two racers became first-time AWRA event winners.
Dan Riner took the checkers in the Sportsman Expert class with 183 laps. Freddie Forte was second, finishing on the lead lap, just behind Riner. Jeffrey Bernstein was a strong third, just two laps down from the leaders, stopping three feet before the counter.
Twelve year old DJ Stubbs paced the field in Advanced Sportsman, winning by one lap over San Diego regular "Fast" Eddie Tarango.
In Legends action, Freddie Forte led the parade, followed by Dan Riner. Tim Wood, another San Diego racer, held on for third.
Dan Riner and Freddie Forte not only notched their first AWRA win, but the both avoided the dreaded AWRA TQ curse, which has claimed numerous victims.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to Mick Antonelli for hosting a first class event.
