REBELLION Racing/Toyota LMP1 partnership

REBELLION RACING PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED


REBELLION Racing and Toyota Motorsport GmbH are pleased to confirm their plans for a Le Mans Prototype LMP1 engine supply partnership.

The agreement will see two REBELLION Racing Lola LMP1 cars powered by Toyota engines, commencing with the 2011 season when REBELLION Racing will be the exclusive partner of Toyota Motorsport in LMP1.

Alexandre Pesci, Rebellion Racing Team Principal, said: “This agreement is the cornerstone of REBELLION's challenge for the forthcoming season. Toyota is an impressive and remarkable industrial giant, we are proud to have been selected by Toyota Motorsport as their partner in this project. It means a lot for our team to have secured their support in our efforts to target the victory.”

Bart Hayden, Rebellion Racing Team Manager, said: “We are delighted to become a partner of Toyota Motorsport and are excited about working alongside a company with a Formula 1 background and a rich history at Le Mans. We look forward to establishing a strong and long term relationship with them.”

Yoshiaki Kinoshita, Toyota Motorsport President, said: “Toyota Motorsport has recent experience of engine supply partnerships from our Formula 1 days so we are drawing on that to deliver a reliable and competitive engine. We are looking forward to working with REBELLION Racing on this exciting project and it was very pleasing to see this engine running in a car for the first time, particularly because the performance, as well as the reliability, was very encouraging.”

Martin Birrane, Executive Chairman of Lola Group, said: “Lola is delighted to be the 2011 LMP constructor of choice for Toyota Motorsport and REBELLION Racing. Supporting our customers at the very highest level has always been and will continue to be very important to Lola. We once again look forward to taking the challenge to the factory works teams next year.”

The partnership between REBELLION Racing and Toyota Motorsport started some weeks ago when, as the first result of combined work from Lola and Sebah Automotive, an interim Lola-Toyota was shaken down in early October at Snetterton in the UK.

At the end of October, REBELLION Racing and Toyota Motorsport engineers conducted an evaluation test programme at Portimao, Portugal and Monteblanco, Spain.

The Lola-Toyota test car achieved high mileage, providing valuable data and experience in terms of performance and reliability with the Toyota engine.

World Indoor Rally Championship 2010-results

John Darby's account of the third World Indoor Rally Championship and held in the Dartmouth Guild Hall on Saturday 27th November.

"The four well laid out Tracks sponsored by Best Ltd, Chris Moseley Builders Ltd, Lemar Engines and Woodlands Leisure Park proved to be more of a challenge than the previous years, especially on track Three (Woodlands Run) at Paddy's Point after DTs Straight many found themselves going off into the distance and on to the floor.



The Juniors were away early with parents as their coaches. A well fought battle between the top three led to the winner Tommy Stewart with a time of 1: min 08.17 secs that would have seen him ninth in the open event. The Lady's trophy (The Bawden Cup) initially was held by Cathy Rowe, later on Jen Pichowski held top spot for most of the day until a late challenge from Evie Holmes who won with a time of 1: min 14.62 secs.

The Open event (World Champion) had a handful of people on the top of the leader board with Tim Slade starting the ball rolling, then 2008 title holder Jamie Hudson-Bond arrived and soon started putting down faster laps although he took a while to get to grips with track One (Best Park) He had to go early in the evening and left with a time of 57.03secs which was nearly 10 seconds faster than any one else. At about 8.00pm Dale Lott the current world champion turned up and started to eat away at Jamie's times until at about 9.30pm he did knock him off top spot and as Jamie was not
there to defend his time and nobody else was in there class Dale took the title again with a 55.84sec time the only two people to get below a minute as the competitor who came third Alasdair Geary (Nottingham) had a time of 1: min 01.36 secs. The event raised over £800 (with more money to be announced by Barclays Bank thanks to Andrew Hood) for the Exeter based Greyhound Sanctuary."

Passing of a slotbrother

It's been reported by a member of Slot Car Illustrated.com that Bruce "Da Vols" Kramer has passed away of a stroke. Bruce has been a member on a number of message boards and his posts were enjoyed by a number of us that enjoy this hobby.
