Slot Car Corner Controller Holders

Slot Car Corner now offers high-quality controller holders which were specifically designed and fabricated with the needs of slot car racers in mind. Let's face it - whether you spend $20, $200 or more on a controller it represents a significant investment that you want to protect. While we can't guarantee our controller holders will completely eliminate the possibility of damage, we can say with confidence they will greatly reduce that risk. If you're looking for an attractive, easy-to-use solution for securing your controller(s) when not in use, look no further! Tested extensively with many aftermarket controllers (any inverted "L" shaped controller should work - some stock set controllers may not). Super Wheel DF wheels

The manufacturer of Super Tires ®, Yellow Dog Super Tires ® and Super Wheels SS is proud to announce our newest offering – the Super Wheels DF (Double Flange) System. Most 1/32 slot car wheels available today employ a center “rib” to help keep the tire centered on the wheel. While slot car manufacturers may use the same wheel and tire combination for a small number of cars, as the number of cars introduced increases, so too does the number of different wheel designs and associated tires. With so many different center rib wheels, manufacturers and after market tire vendors often limit the number of tires available for a given wheel. The Super Wheels DF System takes a different approach by eliminating the center wheel rib altogether. A thin flange on the outer edges of the wheel holds the specially designed tires securely in place. Tires which are available in a wide variety of sizes are also part of the Super Wheels DF System.

Slot Car Corner Now in Canada!

You probably already know about the high quality products and excellent service available from Slot Car Corner. Steve and Dickie do a marvelous job designing and selling unique tuning and performance products for slot car enthusiasts like us. Their Super Wheels SS are also very popular, and of course, they carry the complete line of Classic Super Tires (R) and Yellow Dog Super Tires (R).

I have known Dickie and Steve for some time now, as our respective clubs get together as often as possible to participate in a variety of racing events. No matter what we race or the outcome, we always have a lot of fun. That's why I'm very excited to announce that I will be working very closely with them to bring the high quality Slot Car Corner products to this side of the border and getting them to Canadian customers without the hassles of an international order: the shipping delays, the Customs' «surprises» (you know what I mean!), currency conversion, taxes, etc..

The Slot Car Corner reputation for superior service is well known in the slot car community and I'll do what I need to do to maintain this reputation "north of the border". Steve and Dickie have always stood by their products - rest assured this will continue with Slot Car Corner Canada.

In the last few weeks, we've been very busy getting organized, building an inventory and setting up a website for Slot Car Corner Canada. Some products are still in short supply but as we become aware of what you, our Canadian customers, need, we will adjust quickly. The Canadian branch is still brand new but we want to serve you as best as we can.

For now, Slot Car Corner Canada won't carry any SCX or made-to-order products. For those, you're still invited to deal with Slot Car Corner (USA) directly. But for anything else (tires, wheels, tuning parts, tools, etc.), we'll be there for you.

Please visit our website at www.slotcarcorner.ca to learn more about available products including payment options and shipping rates. Don't forget that all prices are in Canadian dollars. Et bien sûr, nous pouvons vous servir en français avec grand plaisir, puisque nous sommes situés dans la belle ville de Québec.

It will be a pleasure to help you get more speed (and of course, more fun!) from your preferred slot cars.

Adjustable Front Axle Blocks For Ninco Axles

Since Slot Car Corner introduced adjustable front axle blocks for 3/32" axles in early 2007, racers and scratch builders have incorporated them into a wide variety of 1/32 cars with excellent results. Given the success of the 3/32" blocks, Slot Car Corner has just introduced an adjustable front axle block designed specifically for slightly larger (2.5mm) Ninco axles. A complete, step-by-step illustrated installation tutorial is also available. For more information or to order, please visit the Slot Car Corner website.

Body Post Repair/Replacement Kits

How many of your slot car bodies see limited use (or can no longer be used at all) because of broken/damaged body posts like the one in the accompanying picture? You don't have to race 1/32 slot cars very long to experience some sort of problem with the body mounting posts. While in extreme cases they may break right off the body, more often they crack or split. Body post cracking and splitting can have many causes - some common examples include using the wrong screw (too large in diameter and/or the wrong thread), over-tightening the screw, or excessive screw insertion/removal cycles. Whatever the cause, repairs typically involve replacing all or part of the post, reinforcing the existing post or filling/retapping the existing screw hole. In all cases, there is a good chance the repaired post will eventually fail again.

Slot Car Corner now offers specially designed inserts and accompanying mounting sleeves which offer a fresh approach to repairing body posts. In fact, serious racers may want to consider using this approach to beef-up the stock body mounting posts and eliminate the stock body mounting screws and their limitations altogether. Our inserts accept standard M2 machine screws (included in all kits) which will replace the stock body screws to secure the body. Here's a picture of the inserts.

Special Thanks to Jan Levine who first brought these wonderful inserts to our attention.

Note the inserts have a flange which makes them perfect for mounting inside a brass sleeve. This system offers another important advantage over plastic body posts and (metal) body screws. With stock body posts, even posts that are in good condition, body screws have a tendency to work themselves loose and in some cases, fall out altogether. In either case, the car's handling and overall performance is adversely affected (in extreme cases, the car may not be able to continue racing). Threadlockers (e.g. , Permatex, Loctite) are one potential solution; however, ordinary threadlockers are not plastic compatible. In contrast, these inserts and the mounting screws offer a metal-to-metal mounting system - this allows ordinary medium-strength (removable) threadlockers to be used to keep the body mounting screws exactly where you want them. A step-by-step, illustrated how-to article which describes the entire process is available on the Slot Car Corner website (click here). Here are some examples of body posts replaced with the SCC inserts and sleeves:
Example 1 - Scalextric Nascar (Old Style 2 Post Body):

Example 2 - Slot.it 956 Porsche:

Example 3 - Ninco BMW:

Example 4 - Porsche 911:

Several kits with the inserts are offered - for more information, please visit the Slot Car Corner Online Store.

Adjustable Front Axle Mount Kit

Slot Car Corner has released adjustable front axle mounts, which can be applied to a variety of existing car chassis. The adjustable blocks are sold in pairs, with four M2 set screws for precise up-and-down location of the front axle. This adjuster idea was first seen by this writer on the MRRC re-release of the famed Pro Slot Toyota GT1; now you can buy an adjustable mount that can be installed on any car you wish. Shown above is a Slot.It Sauber chassis, with one Slot.It axle height spacer or cap removed. The mounts are not yet installed.

The adjuster blocks will be installed using the original axle uprights as guides. 3/32" holes have been drilled through the chassis floor, to access the lower adjustment screws. The Slot.It chassis pan has been cut slightly, to receive the base of the adjuster blocks. The blocks can be installed facing in, facing out, or upside-down, to fit the exact chassis you choose.

The blocks are glued to the chassis, and the axle is slid in place. Everything fits very well.

The four set screws are run into the pre-tapped holes, and the axle is adjusted for height and vertical play. Adjustment is very easy, can be altered for different tracks, and can compensate for a slightly warped chassis, or for different guides or braids. The original axle uprights are left in place.
Adjustable axle mounts are available here:
