BRM Reveals Sauber-Mercedes C9 1/24 RTR

Italy's BRM Model Cars has revealed additional details about the latest in their "Group C" line; 1/24 Ready to Run Sauber-Mercedes C9 in two forms: The Sauber-Mercedes LeMans 1989 24 Hours Winner and a "Black Edition" that has the test car aerodynamics and early body features.

The model of the LeMans winning car model sports the unique aerodynamic features of car #63 which was driven to victory by Jochen Mass, Manuel Reuter and Stanley Dickens.

The new Sauber-Mercedes C9 scale model offers chassis improvements that may eventually be added to the production of previously released Group C models such as the Porsche 962 and Toyota 88C.

A welcome feature of this model is the rear wing mounting system. To prevent breakage of the rear wing, BRM has made an attachment with a small neodymium magnet that allows the wing to detach on impact or shock making the wing assembly virtually unbreakable.

The "Black Edition" is scheduled for shipment late June 2014 and is limited to 500 pieces worldwide.

B & E Slotsport Planning New Chassis Kit

B & E Slotsport are in the final stages of designing their new 1/24 chassis.

First 3-D printed models were produced this week and pre-production kits are expected to be tested in May 2014.

The chassis is intended for "Hardbody" slot car use but has many other applications as well. The main chassis pan is in two pieces and the wheelbase can be adjusted by using different lengths of steel rod to connect the front and rear chassis pan.

No prices or planned release dates have yet been announced.

Great Lakes RETRO 2014 Series Warm Up

While not an "official" Great Lakes RETRO event, a Group 7-68 RETRO Can-Am race was held on April 25, 2014 hosted by "At the Track" Raceway in South Bend, IN.

10 entries were present and 2 5-man races were run with the overall finishing positions determined by combined lap counts.

Ron Hershman narrowly beat John Miller in race 1 and Sano Dave Fiedler won race 2.

Ron Hershman was the overall winner with 315 Laps, John Miller 2nd also with 315 and Sano Dave was 3rd with 296.

All three podium finishers used the Outisight Designs OS-418 Porsche 908/2 spyder body.
