RMS Resin Cougar

From a recent email from David Reinecke:

Hello fellow slotters! I just wanted to announce that I FINALLY finished the 1967 Mercury Cougar. Yes, I know, I know, 2 years later...

It fts on a Scalextric Mustang chassis with the normal valance trimming, as well as a 2 minute job of relocating the front axle to get the correct wheelbase. This does NOT require cutting the chassis, rather making a notch in the boss in front of the original axle holder and gluing in a simple styrene tube. The instructions show how to do this.

The kits include the body, interior tray, glass, and instruction. They are $30 each. You can now order directly off of my website and pay through PayPal if you so desire.

Decals are available directly through www.slotcars4u.net

Thank you for your encouragement and support of this hobby!

As always, if you wish to be removed from this list, please reply as such.

Happy Slotting!

Avant Slot - more on the way to the US

So, I talked with Cal Kimrey Super Bowl Sunday and the good news is the Peugeot 908 and ALL 3 Audi's are on the way! They are due to arrive the week of Valentine's Day...and nothing really says "I love you" like a slot car now does it?
What's the bad news? Well there isn't any! Well maybe there is sort of. ALL the cars Cal has on the way are once again COMPLETELY pre-sold to the dealers. So...and I can't emphasize this enough... if you want the Peugeot 908HDi OR any of the 3 LeMans Audi's from Avant Slot contact the Avant dealer of your choice NOW!

SuperTires for SCX Nascars

Well if you'd like to replace the tires on your SCX Nascar you might want to check out the new Super Tires #1601 which are made specifically for SCX Nascars. They are sold by Fantasy World Hobbies and Slot Car Corner, both are good friends of Slot Car News. Slot Car Corner is the place I'd start because I happen to know Steve, who runs SCC, and he's a Nascar kinda guy so I'm guessing that he will have them in stock.

Peugeot 908HDi - ALMS testing video

Let's all keep out fingers crossed that this car IS racing here in North America this year!

Carrera's 2008 release list

This list was provided by Slot Car World, a huge thanks to Frank for allowing SCNews to use the list.

Thrice as nice... more Lizards!

February 1, 2008 -- Sonoma, California -- Flying Lizard Motorsports announced today the team's plans for the 2008 American Le Mans Series racing season. The California-based racing team will field three Porsche 2008 911 GT3 RSRs in the GT2 class: the No. 44, No. 45, and No. 46 Flying Lizard Porsches.

In the No. 45 and No. 46 Porsches, drivers Joerg Bergmeister (Germany) and Johannes van Overbeek (U.S.A) will return in 2008 and will be joined by Wolf Henzler (Germany) and Patrick Pilet (France). Henzler competed with the Lizards in the 2006 season with van Overbeek, finishing second in the GT2 drivers' championship. Pilet, winner of the 2007 French Carrera Cup, is new to the American Le Mans Series: 2008 will be his inaugural season in the U.S. Darren Law, Seth Neiman, and Lonnie Pechnik will all return in 2008 to share driving duties in the No. 44 Porsche. Full driver pairings and additional drivers for Sebring will be announced later this month.

2008 will be Flying Lizard's fifth consecutive ALMS season. Since its first year of competition in 2004, the team has finished in the top three in the ALMS GT2 team and drivers' championships, but has not yet won the GT2 title. In 2007, in the No. 45, van Overbeek and Bergmeister challenged the No. 62 Risi Ferrari to a memorable, season-long contest. Three race wins, including the flagship 1000-mile Petit Le Mans, were not enough to clinch the title from Ferrari, and the No. 45 and the team were second in the 2007 championships.

REVELL UNIROYAL FUN CUP VW

O.K. How many of you had VW bugs? Remember how they drove? The light would turn green, you’d pull away with a rumble and much less, I mean much less then supersonic acceleration. And, coming to the next light you would pump the brakes and knew you would stop, but always had that little fear…

Before you post about my VW comments, I have owned 12 of them all the way from 1957 through a 1976 champagne edition bug, and at least one of every other model (ask my dad, my backyard looked like a used car lot) and LOVED every one. Side comment from wife – we had to rent one on our honeymoon and it was one of his favorite days all because of the bug! He even let me take a picture of him in the bug.

Honeymoon Bug got to love Mexico

Now you recreate that joy, exhilaration and heart stopping moments that a VW gives you with the Revell Fun Cup Car. When I saw the first photo of this car, I knew I must own it. Although it is only released in Europe due to licensing issues here in the States. How did I get one? Hey, what can I say, I got people.
This car is richly detailed, and brilliant in color. The Tampo printing is flawless, no bleed and crisp edges.
What’s under the boot? Well, not the latest in cutting edge technology that’s for sure, but a simple and functional chassis. I would love to tell you how it ran, over the long haul, but I can’t. I ran this car 10 maybe 12 laps around my 22 foot oval and put it back in its case. How did it perform in those short few laps? Well, like a VW.
Frank

Scalextric Aston sighting!!!!!!!
