New Scalextric Classic Mini

A 15k motor has been squeezed inside the body of the new Mini. I talked with Mike Walters Development Director for Scalextric and he said they've put a lot of work getting this car just right. The gearing of this car has been worked on for some time, not only to get a gear small enough to fit inside but to get the ratio just right for driveability. He said the interior had to be trimmed to what you see below to get the motor to fit inside. The motor will be visible inside the car but you'll have to really look to find it. It will be blacked out so it will take some inspection to find it in there.

This model has been through a lot in its short life. It's been showed around Europe and now in NY, but during set up of the Scalex USA....er sorry Hornby USA stand...the Mini took a tumble to the floor after being knocked off the display table by a worker at the Javitts Center!

Blimey! How small is this thing? The round guide blade mounting (top pic) takes up a 1/3 of the width!

Dunno exactly, but it's BY FAR the smallest 1/32 slot car I've ever seen. It makes the new MINI that Scalex makes look LARGE!
