Carrera Club for the US....anyone?

***NOTE:Daily posts are below this rather silly rant***

Consider this a first...I'm going to start a petition to try and get Carrera to allow US members to the Carrera Club.

I'm sure many US slotters have heard that Carrera has a club; many slot companies have them. But the Carrera Club seems to NOT allow US members! This I take personally! (OK, I'm not really all that mad, but it does seem a bit short sighted to not allow US members... so consider this a bit of internet arm-twisting! I know that a few people at Carrera USA and the home office in Germany look at this site from time to time...so if you find yourself wanting more Carrera news, photos, downloads, plain white plastic kits of many of their releases...ACCESS TO CLUB CARS... simply put your name in the comments section on this post to show your support for this idea.

Unsure if you think it's worth in? Well take the guided tour of the Carrera Club site at this link. You don't have to know German to do the tour, just look at all the interesting things THAT WE IN THE US CANNOT SEE OR BUY!!!! Carrera swag of all types! Did I mention the kits????

This will be "pinned to the top" to see the interest level...that will dictate whether this post stays for a while to show that WE want access to the world of Carrera that we cannot see or whether I'm just out in left field with this idea....BTW they don't allow members from CANADA EITHER!!!! Oh boy, now I've done it...you don't want to get those Canadians mad at you!

So show yourselves...slotters of North America unite! Be counted here!

BTW, the date change to a future month is the only way to keep a post at the top of the blogger software...sorry for the confusion.

I've never understood why a company would do this. Isn't the North America a large market for them? What's the percentage of sales for NA?

Hello Dave! Only 40 minutes till the first reply!

I don't know either, which is more the point I'm trying to make. Why NOT allow US members (and Canadians too...love those Canadians!).

So I'm hoping to change that with this post! Please add your name if you want to show Carrera that you want to be counted! Show them you WANT to be a member!

OR if you're NOT in the US but want to support your slot brothers in North America to be allowed to join! Hello the Netherlands! Spain! GERMANY!!!!!

A great idea, and I will bring this up if Carrera is at the iHobby Expo in Chicago.

It is one of a very, very small number of "clubs" that limit or restrict membership based on location. I would also be interested in joining (from Canada) if it could be done!
Has anyone actually tried to join and have their membership rejected?

If you follow the steps to join, there is a part of the form you fill out that allows you to choose from a drop down menu of a number of countries. I filled in my address in the US and for the country I put "England", I got to the point of paying my 10 Euros to join and then didn't pay because I thought it was a little silly to fake a country. That's the point at which I decided to make this post.

[wishful thinking]

It's understandable that 'this' Carrera Club is for Europe only and we here in North America can't join...

...because Carrera is going to launch a Club exclusive to North America!

[/wishful thinking]

Seriously, I love the Carrera products and it would be great to get the inside scoop on new cars, products, etc.

Let us in, bitte?

My slot car racing buddies & I own lots of Carrera cars. We are especially looking forward to the newest release, the Flying Lizard Porsche. We would like to join the Carrera Club but are being excluded simply because we reside in the USA. This hobby is international in scope and should have no boundaries. Slot racing is booming here in the states and growing in popularity. The USA is a potentially huge market for Carrera. Carrera, won't you let us in on the fun?

I really enjoy the Carrera cars. If they opened it up to Americans I would happily join the club.

Of Course, you can join the CC even if you live outside the EU! While registrating just pick any address and country you want (that's only for getting the clubcard and a greeting letter and I'm still waiting for my new clubcard).
You may pay by VISA / EUROCARD or money transfer. Okay, that way doesn't allow you to order spare parts, calendars or clubcars directly, but I'm sure that some clubmember would help you out.
Considering getting infos about the new line-up or other inside infos before others (means outside the CC) you would be disappointed, because it happened to often that people took infos and pictures they found inside the CC and posted them on other forums.
Just one more thing : you should at least understand a little German as that's the language on the clubforum. For any more questions on the CC: feel free to ask.

Norbert, I agree, we could go through all those steps to get around not being allowed to join as we are. But we should not have to do that. That's my point... thanks for your reply though, always good to hear from you.

I'm making a point here, I'm not looking for a way around not living in the EU.

I want to make it perfectly clear that I'm not bashing Carrera in any way here. I like Carrera's products very much, I'd just like to see everyone be able to get the full Carrera experience that the Club members have access to.

Dave said...

I agree Dave, and I don't think that we're bashing Carrera either. We're obviously Carrera Fans, and want to be able to enjoy the privileges that people in other geo's enjoy. I mean from Carrer's viewpoint, what's the big deal? Right?

Well, Dave what do think about ONLY Americans being able to join or purchase exclusive collector HO cars from the American Auto World Club since they will only ship to the US!

DaveKennedy said...

I think a company limiting itself to "only anyone" is a bad idea and doesn't make good business sense.

Even at 10euro per year, I would join.
